st. pete

every place on this list offers vegan options and is dog/pet friendly. all are good for different reasons.

always good. one of the best bars in st. pete (if you don’t believe me, ask keanu). the coffee is made by the two nicest dudes in town (coffee owl beans aren’t the best, but they manage). try the “sweedish lemonade” and the irish coffee. good filter. close to sennaya and nevsky.

not for sale

first coffee shop in awhile with a minimalist (white walls, wooden counters) look that doesn’t bug me. prices are ok, tomato soup was good. they offer beer and cider as well. close to sennaya.

NOW CLOSED, KEPT ON THIS LIST IN MEMORIAM

rid

nice coffee shop in kolomna (the closest station is admiralteyskaya, and what may one day be teatral’naya, but you’re in pretty deep). really good chicken sandwich, great selection of coffee. the filter never misses. usually pretty crowded, beware: there may be no tables available.

narushitely

mid-range. good coffee. great food. can’t smoke next to the coffee shop, as there’s just a bunch of fucking cop cars outside. go at your own risk. somewhere inbetween mayakovskaya and chernyshevskaya.

smena

not the best, too pricey. you can buy a bag of welder catherine beans there, though. good for having a quick lunch and a cup of coffee with someone super serious. like a business meeting or something. i wouldn’t know. close to chernyshevskaya.

penka

minimalist interrior -- everything looks like a nest home mini. good coffee, though on the expensive side. if you have any friends that think they’re insta bloggers, this would be a nice place to visit. try the cheese sandwich and see what you think (be wary of the pickles). this spot features gravitas coffee, which is supposed to be, like, really good, but i didn’t really see the difference. close to chernyshevskaya.

filter

great coffee chain with a few locations around town. nice coffee (70% of the time) and a really, really good grilled cheese to go along with it. closest to mayakovskaya station. hopefully, a coffee shop will reopen close to technologichesky institut.

algoritm

(more-or-less ok). nice & friendly (sometimes too friendly) vibe. good coffee (mostly voskhod roasters) at a reasonable price. close to sadovaya/sennaya/spasskaya. vegans welcome!

pitcher (links below)

(stable, ok) nice if you’re in a rush. two main spots (with one extra in a shopping mall somewhere) around town. one on basseynnaya -- the only good coffee place close to park pobedy -- the other on marata street, close to mayakovskaya.
